The IGF Preparatory Committee First Meeting

His Excellency Dr. Tarek Kamel minister of Communications and Information Technology headed the first meeting of the IGF preparatory committee, which was held on MCIT premises on 3rd June 2009.

His Excellency expressed his confidence in the efficiency of the committee members to handle the hosting arrangements of the IGF meeting. Dr. Kamel also highlighted the importance of this event, which reflects an international trust in a balanced Egyptian role and stance.

He also tackled the importance of the IGF meeting and the crucial issues that it highlights to different stakeholders.

He underscored an increasing international attention to the Internet issues and affairs, driven from the development and growing progress of the Internet as well as the ever- growing progress of the convergence applications.

The IGF committee comprises representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interiors, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Information, and Egypt Air as well as MCIT experts.

It is worth mentioning in this regard that the IGF forum includes all stakeholders from concerned governmental, private sector and civil society organizations with the aim of effectuating a dialogue on the related Internet issues and affairs.
